I wonder if the "human revolution" theory, which puts all sorts of things down to a brain reorganisation invisible to the fossil record - things like a leap forward in technology and an increase in the power of human language, was actually due to the invention of clothing.
So, instead of fucking all day, we invented stuff (including proper language).

Have done it once when I was in Crete in the 80s and me and my girlfriend at the time visited this beauty spot that turned out to have a load of nudists camping there.
It felt surprisingly normal very quickly, nothing sexual about it and you realise when it's all on show that it's the clothing and covering up creating the mystery and desire.
